Women’s netball ministry here in Malawi is heating up! The women’s netball teams from Chilomoni (the team from our neighborhood) and Bangwe had a great time playing and hanging out together. There where lots of people watching and cheering for their team! Even some of the boys from Lyzee United (our local futbol team) came to support the ladies. One of the most encouraging things was that our fellow woman of God and sports ministry leader, Chisomo, taught from Romans 13 to the 100 plus people who were present. What a fun day!

A few netball facts (with the help of wikipedia):

  • Yes, it is derirved from basketball
  • There are 7 players on each team
  • Players are restricted to staying on certain areas of the court depending on their positions
  • You can only hold onto the ball for 3 seconds before passing it to another teammate
  • Played mostly by women
  • According to the IFNA (International Federation of Netball Associations), netball is played by more than 20 million people in 80+ countries.

Please pray for us as we continue to explore how to use this sport to reach men & women and in turn communities for Christ!
