Short-term trips are an excellent way to enhance the long-term work of Sports Friends in a given country while also personally experiencing God in a fresh and powerful way. Sports Friends is sponsoring the following short-term trips. Please review these opportunities and Apply Now if God is leading you in this direction.

Camping is a powerful ministry tool! Deep relationships are formed; God’s love is shared; and campers are impacted for eternity. Ethiopian youth enjoy sports, games, crafts, music, drama, good food, a warm bed and lots of love. It is the best week of their lives! We believe this trip will also be one of the best weeks of your life as you humbly give of yourself and participate in God’s work of redemption. Many roles are needed – coaches, activities and crafts leaders, musicians and worship leaders, photographers, first aid providers, and team “moms and dads” whose role is to simply lavish love on a group of campers for the week.

This trip is ideal for potential donors, ministry partners, church partners, and recruits to see and experience the Sports Friends ministry. This annual trip has greatly impacted the lives of many who have participated over the past years – giving them a greater vision for who God is and His awesome work of redemption, salvation and transformation. You will experience a very different culture and one of the poorest countries in the world. You will see firsthand how Christ’s church is working and serving in this country. This will be an active trip as you participate in several different outreach initiatives with youth and young adults in different areas of Ethiopia.

Sports Friends is in the process of significantly expanding and upgrading the facilities at Camp Langano. The goal is to increase the camp’s capacity to over 150 people by the end of 2010. Short-term teams are sent to participate in a variety of construction projects at the camp. During your work at Camp Langano, you will also have the chance to interact with various Sports Friends leaders, both missionaries and Ethiopians, and learn more about the overall Sports Friends ministry and the work of God’s church in Ethiopia.

Coach's 7 Training Trips

These short term trips are primarily for collegiate and professional coaches to assist Sports Friends in training local, community-level coaches in the countries where we work.  These coaches serving at the grass-roots level often have very little access to formal coaching education.  Come share your experience and expertise with them; they will be forever grateful!  The Sports Friends Coach's 7 training focuses on further developing the coaching, sports ministry and leadership skills of coaches actively serving in church-centered sports ministry programs.  Both soccer and basketball coaches are needed.  Contact Brian at bdavidson@sports-friends.org for more information about potential trip dates and destinations.
